Look how happy he is simply to be swimming around!

If you've never heard of Kaavan the Elephant, then you're probably blissfully unaware that the 32-year-old Asian elephant has spent nearly all of the past 30 years locked in chains at the Murghazar Zoo in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Animal rights activists only just started fighting for Kaavan's freedom in 2015 after an American tourist in Pakistan learned about his captivity… but we're happy to say he'll no longer be living in pain.

That's because it was announced on Monday that the Pakistani Senate has ruled in favor of the Help Welfare Organization that the Capital Development Authority who house him must release the animal to a sanctuary to live out his remaining years with other elephants!

Kaavan's chains were initially removed in September of 2015 when tourist Samar Khan first started the petition, and she spoke to The Dodo about the AH-Mazing news on Monday, saying:

Yet another senseless animal death at the hands of humans…

A wild mountain goat in Alaska has died after jumping into the Pacific Ocean in an effort to avoid onlookers.

Apparently, the animal was walking around downtown Seward — a city completely surrounded by National Parks — on Saturday evening when people began crowding around for pictures.

Sensing danger, the goat started climbing down nearby rocks in order to escape, but after jumping into the harbor for safety, it was unable to leave the water and subsequently drowned.

While its death was completely avoidable, State Troopers used the tragic event as an opportunity to promote wildlife preservation, saying:

"It is imperative that wildlife is given adequate space to be able to leave a congested area like downtown Seward. People not giving the animal space and getting close to take photos resulted in a wild animal dying for no cause."

Such a shame

Rest in peace, little guy.

We can't believe it's been a year.

As you surely remember, Cecil the Lion was mercilessly killed by an American dentist at the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe on July 1, 2015.

Now, a year to the day later, we have some great news about the majestic wild animal that was taken too soon in honor of the anniversary of his death.

While Cecil's brother Jericho was initially thought to be dead, not only has he survived the entire year without the leader of the pride… but all three of his lionesses and all seven of his cubs are alive as well!

Unfortunately, not everyone is as excited about Cecil's family thriving — in fact, the lion's shooter Dr. Walter Palmer doesn't seem to care at all!

According to a Daily Mail report, the Minnesota dentist was actually spotted driving around Minneapolis in his brand new $120,000 Porsche Cayenne Turbo this week, smiling and laughing.

So sad that no one can even charge him with a crime after all this!

In just the past couple months, we've seen the slaughter of both Harambe the Gorilla and Juma the Jaguar, so there's clearly more work to do in regards to wildlife preservation.

Rest in peace, Cecil, Harambe, and Juma.

What a needlessly tragic loss of life…

A baby bison in Yellowstone National Park is now dead after some "good Samaritans" unknowingly isolated the calf from its herd last week.

Apparently, a father and son were visiting a stretch of park in Idaho when they noticed a newborn bison lying on the road.

In an effort to "save" the calf, the tourists proceeded to carry the animal to their SUV to "keep it warm," but unfortunately, authorities then had no way of locating the rest of his family.

Yellowstone public affairs specialist Charissa Reid spoke to People on Tuesday about their difficult decision to euthanize the little guy after some life-saving attempts, saying:
