Remember last month's "tribal" story?
This time, the magazine takes on gory horror movie violence in the cover (above) and editorial for the April issue, which features models Issa Lish and Natalie Westling trying to escape a see-through raincoat-clad killer played by male model Bernd Sassmannhausen.
All the horror movie tropes are there, but many believe that the bloody photos also convey a glamorization of domestic violence against women. And that the magazine is purposefully being provocative to sell more copies.
Regarding that critique, Franca Sozzani, the editor-in-chief of the mag, said:
"The horror of life is bigger than the one that you can see in the movies. This is really a horror show, what we are looking at and what we see every day in every newspaper around the world is how fragile the woman still is today, and how she can be attacked, can be abused, can be killed. We sell the dream because we are a magazine… But at the same time, we can give people the opportunity to have a voice, for awareness. It’s not about provocation, at all."
She has a point, and if the editorial gets people thinking more about the very real and very awful nature of domestic violence, then maybe it's worth it in the end!
Plus, one of the models playing the victims (SPOILER ALERT!) fights back and kills the guy in the end!

Did Nick Cannon fall and hit his head??!
Because a concussion would be the only logical excuse for his incredibly inappropriate stand-up routine.
After Mariah Carey's hubby tweeted "I'm racist," he unsuccessfully tried to make a live audience laugh by explaining his prejudice toward Asians, Indian, and white middle-aged men.
However, the most painful part of the entire performance had to have been his jokes about Trayvon Martin – the black teen who was fatally shot in 2012 when his bag of candy was allegedly mistaken for a gun.
And this is all after he created whiteface character Connor Smallnut.
Ay yi yi!
It is hard to comprehend why anyone would be so ignorant and that the audience would actually giggle along with his horrific comments! Perhaps this is Nick's attempt at getting attention??!
It's working, but for ALL the wrong reasons.
See the stand-up performance to believe it (above)!
