We’re talking about Donald Trump and Tiger King star Joe Exotic, of course, with the former now promising to “look into” the latter’s current prison situation and determine whether he actually deserves a presidential pardon. Oh, brother. What a time to be alive…

On Wednesday afternoon, during the President’s usually-disastrous daily press briefing on the coronavirus pandemic, New York Post reporter Steven Nelson brought some (unintentional?) humor to the room by asking The Donald about the top-rated show on Netflix.
More specifically, Nelson used his time at the briefing — during a global pandemic that has killed nearly 100,000 worldwide as of Thursday morning — to inquire as to whether the President would be up for granting a pardon to the tiger trainer after his conviction for attempting to hire a hit man to murder a rival. Dude, seriously?!
You can see the moment on video (below), where Nelson explains to the Prez how Tiger King has been “one of the biggest ratings hits during coronavirus, aside from these briefings,” and adds his question about the possibility of a pardon:
The whole world is watching our hapless “leader” flounder over how to handle medical supplies and quarantine orders during a pandemic and this is what White House reporters are doing with their time? WTF?!
Trump, to his credit, actually took the question in stride in that video, even joking around a little bit despite clearly having never seen the show. (Look, as much as we dislike our incompetent President, it was a stroke of genius to toss the question back on the reporter himself in that clip.) Before moving on, The Donald even gets a little shot in at his f**k-up fail-son, Donald Trump Jr., admitting he “had a feeling” Junior was the kid who earlier joked about a pardon “for the memes.”

And yes, ICYMI, Junior was the one earlier discussing the possibility of pardoning Joe Exotic, simply to watch the media’s reaction to it. The younger Trump, who claims he watched Tiger King “in only two sittings,” went on SiriusXM‘s Jim Norton and Sam Roberts radio show back on Monday and wound up discussing the convicted tiger trainer, which you can see in this quick clip (below):
Take Don Jr.’s desire for a pardon, facetious or not, add in the ratings hit that Tiger King has been during this quarantine, toss in a little of the elder Trump’s desire to attach himself to popular things and, well, it feels like we’ve just created a recipe to make the world burn. No thank you!!!

As dismissive as the Prez was about the question in the first place, though, he did eventually placate the reporter a little bit by saying he’d “look into it,” too. Of course, Trump could have been joking — we can only hope — but for the love of God let’s hope this White House-coronavirus-Tiger King crossover stops RIGHT HERE! We can’t take any more crazy bull s**t in our lives in 2020!!!
