Portia de Rossi Says Ellen DeGeneres Is 'Doing Great' Amid Talk Show Scandal -- Anyone Buying This?

Portia de Rossi says wife Ellen DeGeneres is doing great amid her talk show scandal.

Despite the ongoing investigation into her titular talk show over claims of a toxic work environment, Ellen DeGeneres is said to be “doing great” right now! Wait, what??

We won’t blame you if you immediately call bulls**t on this one, but it’s the update Portia de Rossi gave to Page Six reporters who caught up with her on Sunday near their home in Santa Barbara, California. When the outlet asked if the 62-year-old still plans to continue hosting The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress noted, “Yes, she is.” Inneresting…

As you’re more than likely aware, Ellen has been at the center of controversy ever since BuzzFeed News published a report detailing harrowing accusations of toxic work culture, fear, intimidation, and sexual misconduct behind-the-scenes of the hit daytime talk show. The exposé also highlighted the alleged problematic behavior of producers Andy Lassner, Ed Glavin, and Mary Connelly, noting their boss was well aware of how they ran things when she wasn’t around. Everything that’s come out prior to this point has suggested that DeGeneres is “crushed” by the scandal and wants out of her hosting gig ASAP — even with the vocal support of some of her A-list friends. So, to hear her wife say otherwise sounds a little strange, doesn’t it?

Based on the bizarre, fan-supported PR campaign Portia recently launched under the hashtag #IStandByEllen, which basically deduced the shocking claims to nothing but a smear tactic from a bunch of bots, we guess her recent comment to paparazzi sort of tracks. The message she shared on Instagram earlier this month read:

“To all our fans….we see you. Thank you for your support. #stopbotattacks #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres #IStandByEllen ‪#IstandByEllenDeGeneres ‬#ellendegeneres #ellen #theellenshow #ellenshow #bekindtooneanother”

Guess all of that fan love and positive spin did the trick in lifting Ellen’s spirits? Having folks like Katy Perry, Ashton Kutcher, and Kevin Hart also speak out on her behalf most likely gave her a big personal boost, too. An insider told Us Weekly about the recent and gratuitous celebrity endorsements:

“Ellen’s nice to guests and fans, but with her staff and employees, she has extremely high standards. … They [her celeb friends] know that Ellen can be tough but accept that about her and know that it takes a lot of work to run a tight ship like her show. They get it.”

But it’s hard to say if any of that will mean anything compared to whatever Warner Media finds in their ongoing internal investigation into the matter. As a reminder, the daytime TV queen addressed the scandal in a memo to her staff, saying she was unaware of what had transpired but apologized and since promised their team would do better.
