Botox is thought of by many as a simple and zero-risk procedure — but that’s not completely true. Just ask former Desperate Housewives star Dana Delany.
“Seven years ago, I had never heard of Botox. My dermatologist was saying, ‘You should try it.’ He injected my forehead, hit a nerve, and created a huge hematoma. The nerve has been dead ever since. It affected the muscle in my right eye, so my eye has started to droop a little bit.”
Since that experience, she has shunned plastic surgery althogether.
“I won’t do it, no. My hat’s off to Jamie Lee Curtis. She’s so smart, and she doesn’t dye her hair or anything. And Meryl Streep still looks like herself. Diane Keaton, too. I think the really great actresses don’t worry about that kind of thing.”
As a young woman, Delany also struggled with eating problems, and says that she “was one step from anorexia.”
Despite her body image issues and near-eating-disorders, Delany has a healthy outlook on her mortality.
“I think I have a pretty good relationship with death. Ever since I was a little kid, it wasn’t something I feared.”
It’s inspiring to see how celebrities evolve overtime to become who they are today. Her story acts a word of caution to anyone thinking about plastic surgery or Botox — consider the consequences before you do it! It doesn’t always turn out well!
