Apparently, one advantage to being stuck underground for 69 days is that you have time to train for a marathon!
Edison Pena ran 6-7 miles a day while trapped in the mine to help clear his head, and has now conquered the famous NYC marathon.
Said Pena before he started the race:
“First, I want to run this marathon, but secondly, I’d like to motivate those people who aren’t running the marathon to do so in the future. I also want to especially motivate young children and youth to run because running makes you free.”
So inspiring! His positivity is infectious!
