It’s tough to find a celebrity walking out of a yoga class who isn’t carrying a bottle of coconut water these days.
And it doesn’t seem to be a total waste — there are health benefits.
It’s not just a sugar-free, low calorie super-hydrating drink, companies who make it claim that it can also help prevent heart disease, strengthen the immune system, and burn fat. Some studies claim that coconut water is more hydrating than water and as hydrating as “isotonic” sports drinks except without the caffeine and dyes.
And people are catching on in a big way. Sales are up 800% in the past few months.
