Four Loko Is No Longer Loko

That’s right! That crazy caffeinated beverage some of us have come to love, then immediately hate after drinking a few too many and ending up in the hospital, will remove caffeine and two other ingredients from the alcoholic beverage.

The announcement came Tuesday after the FDA was expected to find that caffeine is an unsafe food additive to alcoholic drinks, which would essentially ban Four Loko and other drinks like it.

For now, all those alcoholics who needed a mid-day boost will just have to go back to Red Bull.

An opponent of the drink since it has gained attention in the national headlines, Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York said the FDA ruling, “should be the nail in the coffin of these dangerous and toxic drinks.”

Federal regulators would not confirm that a ban was imminent, but Phusion, the company behind Four Loko, seems to believe they gotta do what they gotta do and reformulate the drink.
