Celebrity Nutritionist Lisa DeFazio Answers Your Questions!

Hello!
I quit smoking almost a year ago, and it was very easy at the time. However, since then I have noticed how much better everything tastes! It's amazing! But now I can't seem to stop eating! I’ve tried drinking more water, but it doesn't help. I have been working out pretty regularly, about 5-6 times a week. However I am always hungry and constantly thinking about food! Is there anything you could recommend to help me?? Please! There seems to be no hope!
Thanks for everything!
Kerry
Hi Kerry,
Congratulations on quitting smoking. That is a BIG accomplishment. Yes, your taste buds and sense of smell have improved. Do not be discouraged, even a little weight gain is still better for your health than going back to smoking. I used to teach smoking cessation classes, so here are some tips that helped my class participants: String cheese and crackers, lowfat microwave popcorn, baby carrots and lowfat ranch dip, baked chips and salsa, pita chips and hummus. Crunchy snacks may be more satisfying! Do your best to avoid boredom eating! Good luck!
