She may not have finished first, but after collapsing from severe leg pain during the California State Cross Country Championship, 16-year-old Holland Reynolds still finished.
The 3 mile race began well enough for high school junior leading the pack in third place, but somewhere in the middle spectators could see Reynolds hunched over in pain, barely running as she continued the course.
Just a few feet before the finish line she collapsed to the ground!
Here's the impressive part.
Despite her injury, Reynolds pulled a Cool Runnings ending and pushed herself up to CRAWL across the finish line!
Now that's dedication!
The best part is that her team actually WON the meet with help from Reynolds crossing the finish line despite her injury.
Despite her dehydration and light hypothermia from her run in the cold weather that caused her body to breakdown, she said:
"I just kept on telling myself, 'I need to finish and I need to cross the line'. I don't remember falling, but then I remember crawling across the line."
You go girl! Way to give it everything you had and show that victory doesn't always mean crossing the finish line first!
