Just after conquering breast cancer a few months ago, nine-time Wimbledon champion Martina Navratilova has already embarked on a journey to conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro!
As if she hasn't accomplished enough in her life, Martina began climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 19, 340 feet, on Monday in an effort to raise funds for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
The charity specializes in helping disadvantaged youth around the world through sport-based projects.
Her climb will take approximately 6 to 7 days to reach the summit, which the tennis great has been anticipating for a while, saying:
"I've been planning to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro since early this year, even before my breast cancer diagnosis, so it feels really great to finally be underway. I'm feeling well prepared for the challenge, and although I'm sure we'll all be in for a tough few days of climbing, I am determined to reach the summit."
It may not be as ambitious as not tweeting for a couple days, but it's nice to see celebs really making an effort to raise money for their favorite charities!
Good luck up there, Martina!
We'll be waiting for you down here and hope you make it back safely!
