We are baffled by this case for so many reasons. The most recent development is that two of homeless men that Juan-Carlos Cruz solicited to murder his wife died/were imprisoned last August, and Cruz’ lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, was never informed about it.
Shane Ickenroth, the third homeless man involved in the case, called prosecutor Simone Shay to tell her about Big Dave and Little Dave (the other two homeless men), and she told him to stay quiet.
Ickenroth says Shay told him, "Don't say anything about it. It could still mess up the case while it was going on."
Holley is infuriated about the lack of communication.
"If these allegations are true, then the conduct of Ms. Shay and the Santa Monica Police Department is outrageous, unethical and highly improper — if not an outright obstruction of justice."
Yikes! We hope this wraps up soon! Nothing is worse than a court case that drags on for too long!
