That is out of control!
A new study has shown that 75% of American kids consume caffeine (mostly sodas) on a daily basis!
The parents of children between the ages of 8 and 12 were asked how much soda they consumed daily and the results were astounding! Out of the 200 kids, the majority of them drank the equivalent of 3 cans of soda per day, while kids as young as 5 years old, drank the equivalent of one can a day.
Caffeine consumption has led to many sleeping problems in children, which resulted in poor attendance and performance in school.
Journal of Pediatrics author Dr. William Warzack said, "Parents should be aware of the potentially negative influence of caffeine on a child's sleep quality and daily functioning," and suggests that pediatricians advise and educate parents about the potentially harmful effects that a high amount of caffeine consumption can have on children.
