It turns out that Steve Jobs’ leave of absence back in 2009 was a trip to Switzerland to receive a special cancer treatment not available in the US.
The reason this information hasn’t been revealed until now is because the source, Apple Director Jerry York, who talked to the media about Jobs’ Swiss treatment swore them to secrecy. However, upon Jerry’s death in March 2010, Fortune magazine decided that his death nullified the contract they had with him, and have since leaked the info.
"With York's death, the off-the-record agreement is no longer in place."
The fact that Jobs went to Switzerland implies that his cancer had gotten so serious he was willing to go to extreme measures and seek treatment outside of the US.
Crazy!! We hope he’s getting better!
