We have some tough news to deliver: You’re probably not getting enough fruits and veggies.
Researchers in Europe found that people may need at least eight servings of vegetables a day (vs. the now recommended five) to cut the risk of heart disease significantly.
The study found that eating 8 servings a day will cut your risk of heart disease by 22%, and that each fruit or veggie you eat can cut it by 4%.
So we know that everyone is probably already struggling to get their daily fruits and veggies, but here’s the good news — most fruits and almost all vegetables are low in calories, so eating more won’t bust your diet.
Trying eating an apple for a midday snack, or try some carrots. If you’re feeling adventurous, bite into green pepper!
