Gulf Coast Residents’ Blood Tests Reveal Shocking Results
It’s been nine months since BP filled the Gulf of Mexico with oil, and the consequences, as predicted, are still haunting residents along the water.
The Louisiana Environmental Action Network just released a study of 12 residents’ blood, revealing some shocking results.
Four of the people had unusually high levels of benzene, a highly toxic chemical from crude oil. Other chemicals such as Ethylbenzene (which can cause damage to hearing and to the ear, dizziness, kidney damage, and possibly cancer) and Xylene (which can cause dizziness, headaches, skin irritation, and confusion) were also found in those studied.
Not only that, but a 10-year-old who took part in the study is currently experiencing severe respiratory problems as a result of the exposure.
We HOPE BP is compensating these people and paying for their medical bills. This is just a reminder that the Gulf is STILL IN TROUBLE! Let’s not forget about it! These people still need help!
