Lisa DeFazio Answers Your Questions

Lisa,

I overhauled my life in October and have since changed my diet completely (no more fast food!) and workout 5-6 times a week. I alternate a lot of videos that include strength and resistance training, HIIT and some cardio along with 30 minute runs for a total workout of 40-60 minutes a day. I eat 5 small meals a day also. I have lost 43 pounds so far, which is exciting, but I want to continue to lose more. Do I need to amp up my workouts to more than an hour at this point? ALSO is there another good protein source besides chicken, fish and tofu? Just so I can switch it up a bit! Thank you so much!!!

Thank You,

Elizabeth Wilson

Hi Elizabeth,

Congratulations for taking control of your health and your weight! Once you start to plateau, and you stop losing weight, it is time to change up your workout. You have a good variety with resistance and cardio-that is important! At a certain point your body gets adjusted to the same workout, so switch the cardio to bicycling, jumping rope, or another cardiovascular activity to jump start the weight loss again. An hour workout is adequate, just make sure the cardio is at least 30 minutes. Try the following for more variety with protein: string cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, eggs or egg whites, turkey, chicken sausage, and beans. Keep up the good work.
