Breakthrough In Malaria Treatment

Malaria may not be a huge threat here in the US, but the disease kills nearly one million people a year.
Thankfully, researchers in Canada and the US have developed a new process to make the chemical used in malaria treatments more quickly and cheaply.
Said Canada’s Gary Goodyear, minister of state for science and technology:
“This new development in the production of a malaria treatment represents a major development in the fight against the disease. It will strengthen Canada’s position as a world leader in health research and provide a reliable and affordable solution.”
Malaria is the leading cause of death in children under 5 in sub-Saharan Africa, so this could greatly help their plight!
