In 2009, Katie Price said she had never felt better after completing the race, but since then her knee has given her problems and she has had to drop out of the marathon this year.
Katie wrote an explanation about her decision to drop out on her website:
It is with great regret that I have had to pull out of this year’s London Marathon. I’ve been training really hard, but it became apparent at the Silverstone half marathon (6th March) that my knee is not strong enough to withstand extensive runs. I have done everything I can to get over the injury, but my physiotherapist has said that I should pull out to avoid any long-term damage.
My brother Danny, who was part of the team running the marathon with me, is now going to be doing the Boston Marathon [18th April]. We have obviously had a lot of generous donations made to us and we hope to keep raising more money through him.
I hope those that have agreed to sponsor me will agree to their donation still going to the very worthwhile charities, but anyone who does want their donation returned should contact me through my website www.katieprice.co.uk. I intend to double all the donations that are not returned.
Good luck to all of the runners this year, I know how hard it is and I have nothing but admiration for you all.
Although it’s too bad that she can’t run, we’re glad she’s making the responsible decision and looking after her body. You only have one pair of knees! You gotta take care of them!
