Gary Busey has decided it’s time to give back!
After getting hearing aids that correct the loss of hearing he experienced after undergoing brain surgery in 1988, Busey is ready to help others in the same way Marlee Matlin, the Oscar-winning actress who first identified Busey’s hearing loss, helped him.
"Marlee Matlin said to me that it's not right to stop somebody from hearing so she sent me to Dr. Bill Austin, Starkey hearing aid in Minnesota and he outfitted me in one hour with this hearing aid.”
"I had brain surgery after my motorcycle accident in '88 when I split my skull and it knocked a hole in my ear canal, making it smaller so Dr. Austin gave me these (hearing aids)… and now all five of my senses are working… Now I can help people with traumatic brain injury because I was the advocate voice that created the Traumatic Brain Injury Act that President Clinton signed in 1997. I'm very proud of that."
We like this. High fives to Busey!
