Donnie Wahlberg Helps Find Kidney For Fan Over Twitter!

Good things DO happen on Twitter! Mostly, thanks to Donnie Wahlberg.

Thanks to a simple tweet, the New Kid On The Block helped out one of his Twitter followers find a kidney! It really is the little things in life that matter!

Donnie explained:

“Basically, a few of my Twitter followers retweeted a blog (called ‘Love Can Do Anything’) about a fan named Bobbette who was in desperate need of a kidney transplant. So I saw the tweet, read the link and then retweeted and asked for help.”

That retweet reached thousands of fans last December, prompting an overload of calls to Vanderbilt University Medical Center that yielded six matches for Bobbette, a.k.a. Bobbette Miller (pictured above)!

Bobbette's friend and fellow Donnie Wahlberg twitter follower, said:

“Back when we found out Bobbette needed a transplant, her kidney was functioning around 20 percent. I knew I had to reach a lot of people in the fastest way possible, so I posted the blog on Twitter. And within two hours, I saw that Donnie retweeted the link. I stopped dead when I read it. I couldn’t believe he did it.”

Believe it! However, Donnie isn't taking all of the credit and instead called it a "team effort", continuing:

“It’s a testament to the value of Twitter when used for more than telling people what one is eating for dinner or using it to sell products by tweeting as an #endorser."

Definitely was a team effort that may have been just as successful without Donnie, but either way, we're happy to hear he helped out.
