Kobe Bryant has a controversial face!
A sports memorabilia company is suing a competitor over the use of Kobe Bryant’s image in trading cards and other paraphernalia.
Panini America claims to have exclusive rights to Kobe’s image, and says that The Art of the Game (competitor) violated those rights. They’re suing Art of the Game for trademark infringement, false advertising, and federal unfair competition.
Panini released a statement:
"Art of the Game uses Kobe's likeness in its internet advertising, and offers for sale, and sells sport memorabilia containing Kobe's legally protectable mark…on photographs, basketball shoes, basketballs, and game jerseys."
