FDA Approves New HIV Pill

Hiv pill approved

A new once-a-day pill that prevents the HIV virus from reproducing was approved on on Friday by the FDA.

Edurant is is designed for use as part of a drug cocktail that reduce levels of HIV in the blood, but approved only for those who have not been treated with other medications for the virus.

Dr. Edward Cox, FDA's director of antimicrobial products, said:

"Patients may respond differently to various HIV drugs or experience varied side effects. FDA's approval of Edurant provides an additional treatment option for patients who are starting HIV therapy."

The medication sounds like an awesome advancement in the fight against AIDS! The side effects were very moderate with depression, trouble sleeping, headache and rash being the most common.
