Cocaine Laced With Veterinary Drug Eats Flesh

White dust under the nose is no longer the only sign that someone’s a cocaine user — they might be losing flesh.

Cocaine cut with a veterinary drug called levamisole is thought to be the cause of a flesh-eating disease in NY and LA.

The drug is used to deworm cattle, pigs, and sheep, and when it’s ingested by humans it can rot the skin off of noses, ears, and cheeks.

"It's probably quite a big problem, and we just don't know yet how big a problem it really is," said Dr. Noah Craft, a dermatologist with Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute.

Experts say that while NY and LA have been the epicenters of it so far, the tainted cocaine could be spreading throughout the US.

A report that came out in April of this year revealed that 82% of seized cocaine contained levamisole.

If you needed another reason to not use/quit cocaine, this is it!
