Boston mayor Thomas Menino is throwing a fit over Nike’s new line of t-shirts.
The wack t-shirts say things like, “Get High,” or “Dope,” and Menino says that they are promoting a drug culture.
Said Menino in a statement to Nike:
“Your window display of T-shirts with drug and profanity wordplay are out of keeping with the character of Boston’s Back Bay, our entire city, and our aspirations for our young people.”
Menino has asked Nike to remove the shirts from their stores. In response, Nike is playing innocent and says the t-shirts do NOT promote any sort of wack drug culture.
“These t-shirts are part of an action sports campaign, featuring marquee athletes using commonly used and accepted expressions for performance at the highest level of their sport, be it surfing, skateboarding or BMX. Nike does not condone the use of banned or illegal substances.”
What do U think? Are these t-shirts bad for the youth??
