Apparently, in a new study a new program which allows you to text a number when you're feeling like having a smoke to have an encouraging message be sent back in return doubled the chances the test subject quit smoking!
Out of 5,800 smokers in the study, more than 10 percent who received the encouraging messages quit, compared to just 4.9 percent of smokers who didn't receive the text messages.
The participants' saliva was tested to make sure they had actually given up smoking, BBC News reported.
If you text the word "lapse" or "crave" for instance, you'd get a super positive and supportive message in return!
Sounds like the kind of program that deserves funding to us. Everyone needs a little support once in a while, why not use the power of technology to do it??
You can do it, everyone who is trying to quit!
