Poker fans should be excited to hear that CBS has decided to take a gamble on their favorite sport.
The Eye, in addition to the new Discovery cable network Velocity, will air the newly formed Epic Poker League this fall, which features the top 200 players in the world.
According to Jeffrey Pollack, the executive chairman of the league:
"Our focus is celebrating the best live tournament players in the world with a sense of purpose and dedication."
The new, more extensive coverage will give fans a glimpse into the lives of their favorite players too, as Pollack noted the telecasts will delve heavily into players' personalities and background.
The first of four events in the poker league is set for August 9-12, with a championship round scheduled for February 13-14 at the Palms casino in Las Vegas.
