Wow, this is pretty amazing.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that beginning January 2013, birth control and voluntary sterilization will be covered with no copays for insured women.
Under Obama's new health care law that expands to women's preventative care, insurance companies will also be responsible for for breast pumps for nursing mothers and an annual "well-woman" physical that will screen for cervical cancer, diabetes prevention for pregnant women, counseling on domestic violence, and other services.
An HHS news release said:
"These historic guidelines are based on science and existing literature and will help ensure women get the preventive health benefits they need."
This is a huge step in preventing unwanted pregnancies, as well as keep women and children healthy. Fantastic news.
