Here is a sad reminder for video game lovers to make sure they get up and move!
20-year-old Chris Staniforth passed away from a pulmonary embolism, which kills victims sitting in the same position for hours, after a marathon session on his Xbox.
Chris had no underlying medical conditions, but was reportedly complaining of a low heart rate before he collapsed.
Ugh! Such a horrific side effect of a video game addiction! At least his parents have launched a campaign to raise awareness about the health risks of playing online computer games.
Microsoft, the company behind Xbox, says they "recommend gamers take breaks to exercise as well as make time for other pursuits", but parents need to step in if their children are ignoring this recommendation.
Our hearts go out to the Staniforth family for their loss and we hope their campaign helps other video game lovers avoid the same fate as their son.
