According to the Chinese, the people of London better get their act together if they want to host the 2012 Olympic Games next summer!
A Chinese newspaper is questioning the city's ability to provide a safe and stable environment for the international event due to the recent riots, writing:
"The three consecutive days of rioting has spread to east London area where the main sports stadium of London Olympic is located. After the riots, the image of London has been severely damaged, leaving the people skeptical and worried about the public security situation during the London Olympics."
The city is definitely going through a rough patch and our hearts go out to those who have been injured, had property destroyed, or even lost their lives as a result of the violence. However, instead of worrying about the 2012 Olympics, we think it's more important to focus on the healing process the city is going through instead.
The clean up has already begun and with how tough the authorities are being on those who took part in the riots, we have a feeling the younger population will think TWICE (if not three or four times) before trying to burn their city down again.
We think next summer is a ways away and by then, these riots will only be a blip in the country's VERY long history.
