Yes! It's true!

The 42nd President of the United States used to famously chomp down on steaks, burgers, and barbecue, but now considers himself a full-fledged VEGAN!

Bill Clinton speaks pretty highly of the meat-free lifestyle too! After dropping over 20 pounds, he says he's healthier than ever!

Although his wife, Hilary, enlisted in the help of the nation's top doctors to put her presidential hubby on a healthier diet during his first term in the White House, he still suffered from undetected heart disease.

Less than four years after leaving office, Bill underwent quadruple bypass surgery to restore blood flow to his heart. After the surgery he cut down his caloric intake and lowered the cholesterol in his diet. However, it STILL wasn't enough!

Just last year, the 65-year-old needed ANOTHER heart procedure! This time, doctors needed to open one of the veins from his bypass surgery which Bill described as "pretty bent and ugly."

Now he's not taking any risks by not consuming any meat, dairy, eggs, and almost no oil. He told sources:

"I essentially concluded that I had played Russian roulette because even though I had changed my diet some and cut down on the caloric total of my ingestion and cut back on much of the cholesterol in the food I was eating, I still — without any scientific basis to support what I did — was taking in a lot of extra cholesterol without knowing if my body would produce enough of the enzyme to support it, and clearly it didn't or I wouldn't have had that blockage. So that's when I made a decision to really change."

Now the former President would like to get his weight down to 185 pounds, but feels good otherwise, saying:

"All my blood tests are good, and my vital signs are good, and I feel good, and I also have, believe it or not, more energy."

We respect anybody's choice to adopt a vegan or vegetarian diet, but if Bill had simply watched what he ate as a young man, he may have completely avoided his heart problems.

We say eat smart and exercise regularly to prepare your body for a brighter future!
