Uh oh, we're not too happy to hear about this.

Men and women who regularly take non-aspirin anti-inflammatory painkillers have an increased likelihood of developing kidney cancer by more than 50%!

The study, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, is the largest undertaking to look at the relationship between kidney cancer and the class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

The NSAIDs in the study included drugs like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), and Celebrex.

Fortunately, even if the risk is doubled, doctors and researchers believe the it is still quite low.

A kidney cancer specialist, who was not involved in the study, would still recommend the use of these painkillers for short term use, saying:

"Occasional use for aches and pains is nothing to worry about, but one's risk of getting kidney cancer, even for a long-time user, is not high at all."

The only people at notable were risk were those who had been taking them regularly for more than 10 years, which increased their chances of getting kidney cancer by nearly 300%.
