The man who America has had in the back of their minds all week is finally speaking up!
The New Jersey Nets are moving to a new arena in Brooklyn and the NBA team's part owner, Jay-Z, is throwing a house warming party the only way he knows how — a concert!
"I'm gonna open the building with a concert — a couple of concerts, actually," he told Good Day New York.
The team's new area code means a new name too! Jay-Z was "really giddy" to confirm the team will now be known as the Brooklyn Nets.
The hometown hero is also proud that his NBA team is creating plenty of jobs to stimulate the NYC borough's economy, saying:
"It's already created so many jobs. Along with all the entertainment and basketball and boxing — because it's gonna be more than about basketball, it's an entertainment arena — along with all that, just to create jobs on top of that is a beautiful thing."
He did not confirm how many shows he will perform, but he's got a while to decide. Barclays Arena will open next September, one month before the Nets begin their first season in Brooklyn.
