This is such a good story!
Justin Boyles was severely depressed when he found out that he had diabetes. He weighed 385 pounds at the time.
This is when his daughter, who was 6, asked him if he'd ever be healthy enough to ride a bike with her.
He said yes.
And then she made him pinky promise.
He has now lost 65 pounds since March!!!
Justin has lost more than 65 pounds. He walks around his neighborhood whenever he can and makes sure to do the little things like taking the stairs and returning his shopping cart. The family is also eating better with more vegetables, leaner meats and less sugar. For example, at dinner Justin usually eats a spinach leaf salad with tuna or baked chicken with broccoli. Shanon joins in; she's lost 20 pounds in less than six months on the new diet.
And sometimes that's just what it takes. It doesn't take a huge step, just start out small. Eat healthy and be active. He's not on any fad diets or anything.
Plus, his doctors say that if he reaches his goal weight of 200 pounds, he could possibly come off his diabetes medications.
Everyone out there — whatever reason you can find to get healthier, it's a good reason. You can do it!
