Following a listeria outbreak linked to Colorado cantaloupes, bags of chopped romaine lettuce are being recalled in Alaska over concerns of potential listeria contamination.
Although no reported illnesses have been reported, True Leaf Farms of Salinas, California is voluntarily recalling 2-pound bags of chopped romaine lettuce which have a use-by date of Sept. 29.
While listeria can be fatal, the bacterial infection is particularly dangerous to people with weakened immune systems such as infants, elderly, and HIV patients.
Better to be safe than sorry, so check your lettuce!
