We had heard they'd be trying something like this, and it turns out that the Chicago area will be the first to be tested with what they're calling a "healthier" Happy Meal for kids!
In it, they'll get less fries, a bunch of apple slices, and milk instead of the usual stuff the meals come with — but people seem to think that they'll try it (or not realize it's happening) and just go back to all the fries like normal.
Fruit has been offered as an alternative for years, but this is the first time the meals will default to it. Also, only 11 percent of people make use of the switch anyway.
"The new Happy Meal aims to address the challenges kids face in meeting the recommended daily consumption of produce."
The plan is to expand it to all locations by March.
We say that kids shouldn't be eating there often regardless of the options. Fast food shouldn't really be a major part of any diet, and should be considered a "special" trip for kids if they get excited about it, or a last resort. If it's a special trip that only happens once in a while, we say they kids should be treated to some fries!
Do U think this will help??
