He's certainly no saint, but that doesn't give anyone the right to use this kind of language against another person.
Tiger Woods' former caddy, Steve Williams - whom the shamed professional golfer fired this past summer after standing by him through his cheating scandal - made some pretty severe, racially-tinged insults against his former employer during the Annual Caddy Awards Roast in Shanghai last night!
When asked about a comment he made in August regarding his win with Adam Scott as the best of his life during Bridgestone International , despite having won 13 majors with Woods, Williams reportedly said:
“It was my aim to shove it right up that black ass."
WHOA! Not. Okay.
And apparently, the audience agreed, as they responded with nervous laughter.
Quickly afterward, Williams took to his website to apologize for the out-of-line comments, and wrote:
“I apologize for comments I made last night. I now realize how my comments could be construed as racist. However, I assure you that was not my intent. I sincerely apologize to Tiger and anyone else I’ve offended.”
And Tiger's agent, Mark Steinberg, also responded:
“I was with Tiger last night when he heard the news. If multiple reports… are true, then it’s sad it’s come down to this.”
Very sad, indeed. Out of every insult that man could have thrown at him, he had to resort to racism?
We can't imagine that it's going to be pleasant when the two see each other at the Australia Open next week!
