Despite not being receiving any criminal charges and only losing his job, Joe Paterno may be gearing up for a legal battle anyway.
The former Penn State University head coach has reportedly been in contact with a defense lawyer.
Sources say Paterno's advisors reached out on Thursday to J. Sedgwick Sollers, a criminal defense attorney who had once represented George H.W. Bush.
Hmm…does someone have a guilty conscience?
Maybe. Or he's just preparing for civil court, which could potentially cost him millions and force more disturbing details to the surface, as one legal analyst explained:
"All of the officials involved in the scandal, including Paterno, could be sued in a civil case by the alleged victims and their families and if that happens, and the case doesn't settle quickly, we'll likely see a lot of finger-pointing between and among the defendants."
After these reports of consulting a lawyer leaked, Paterno's spokesman was quick to mention that "no lawyer has been retained."
