Kimberly-Clark has recalled 1,400 cases of Kotex tampons due to fears they may be infected with bacteria after tests detected Enterobacter sakazakii on a single plastic tube.
The bacterium is known to cause a variety of health problems including vaginal infections, urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory disease or other potentially life-threatening infections.
The company is asking for customers to return 18-count and 36-count boxes of Kotex Natural Balance Security Unscented Tampons Regular Absorbency with sku numbers 15063 and 15068.
The tampons in question were sold in Texas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. at Walmart, Fry's and Smith's stores.
98% of the product has been recovered, but that means there are still a few boxes out there! Check your tampons ladies and call Kimberly-Clark's consumer office at 1-800-335-6839 if you discover you have a box matching the description above!
