We told you last week that the Syracuse boys basketball assistant coach had been accused of molesting kids in wake of the PSU scandal.
Well, some action has been taken in a direction that makes it all appear to be true: the assistant coach, Bernie Fine, has now been fired.
"At the direction of Chancellor Cantor, Bernie Fine's employment with Syracuse University has been terminated, effective immediately."
Good. Good good good. 35 years counts for absolutely nothing if you're a monster who has been touching kids.
Even those who had given Fine their "full support" seem to have changed their tune:
"The allegations that have come forth today are disturbing and deeply troubling. I am personally very shocked because I have never witnessed any of the activities that have been alleged. I deeply regret any statements I made that might have inhibited that from occurring or been insensitive to victims of abuse."
We're so glad action is being taken, especially after law enforcement dropped their investigation a few years back. Now that there have been at least three victims to come forward, we're just plain happy that this man has been removed from his predatory position!
We also hope that some of these victims can find peace in that Fine could quite possibly never do this to another boy, ever again!
