Guess that's another benefit of being one of Oprah's BFFs!
Dr. Mehmet Oz is the very FIRST man to be featured on the cover of The Oprah Magazine.
"The January issue is all about firsts. I met Dr. Oz in 2003 as his first guest on Second Opinion — a medical series he and his wife, Lisa, created for the Discovery Channel. Now here we are, over eight years later. … What can I say? I adore Dr. Oz. As we toast to a new year and encourage readers to take the first step toward a happier, healthier life, who better to help us get on the right path than my dear friend and America's doctor, Dr. Oz."
Inside, however, Dr. Oz shares that while his career is booming, he needs to get back on the right path toward a booming marriage, saying:
"I think I'm a better doctor than I am a husband. I give myself a good grade as a doctor, then the next best grade as a father, and the worst grade as a husband. I don't listen well when Lisa talks."
He goes on to tell Oprah in the interview that it has taken him 25 years to figure this out, but he's actively working toward fixing the problem.
Don't be too hard on yourself, doc! Marriage isn't easy and even if it's taken you 25 years to finally come to terms with your shortcomings as husband, at least you're willing to work on it!
Most men won't even admit there is a problem until it's too late! Good luck and congrats on the cover!
