Sounds like somebody is still pret-ty bitter about having to pay spousal support!
Vanessa Bryant's ex-stepfather, who has been divorced from her mom since 2003, is using Kobe Bryant's marital woes as an opportunity to trash talk his ex.
Stephen Laine is insuating that Vanessa was never actually in love with Kobe and was "taught" by her mother to wait until after the 10th wedding anniversary to file for divorce, saying:
"Her mother taught her well to wait for the ten-year mark [before divorcing]. In California … it's considered a long term marriage and then she gets paid for life or until she remarries … just like her mother is doing to me."
We might give this guy a little credibility if he didn't have to take an issue that has nothing to with Vanessa's mother and make it about, you know, Vanessa's mother.
The bitter divorcee goes on to complain he still has to pay his ex-wife $1,800 a month when she's living a lavish lifestyle in one of Kobe's mansions, explaining:
"I have to pay her mom $1,800 every month and clearly they don’t need it. I have a six-year-old daughter and that money could be used toward her college fund or something … you'd think she'd care .. but no, she's spiteful."
We're sorry to hear about this guy's financial problems, but don't think he really needs to get into the middle of this just to drag both Vanessa and her mother's name through the mud.
By this guy's standards, any woman who marries a rich guy, has two kids with him, gets cheated on multiple times, then FINALLY decides she's had enough…is a gold digger.
It seems more likely to us that Vanessa really tried to make her marriage work, but her husband just couldn't keep it in his pants. Unfortunately for Kobe, now he'll have to pay for his sins.
