This isn't cool at all, Adidas. Just come up with a different plan.
So there's this church in Illinois, right? They've been trying to raise money to help with programs and to add onto their building. So to help fundraise, they decided to make a slogan and brand it on things that they could sell in support.
What they came up with was Add A Zero. That was in 2009.
Fast forward a bit, and the huge sports wear conglomerate Adidas has the clever idea (we guess? seems like they could just think of something else) to name a new subdivision line "ADIZERO."
The US Patent office declined their application because the church was there first.
Of course, in greedy fashion, Adidas was not happy with this. They tried to buy off the church with $5,000 which they refused. Then they filed to cancel the Church's trademark because they weren't using it enough or something.
"I have long been an admirer of Adidas and would not expect a company of your stature, with celebrity endorsers like Mr. Rose, to try to use its wealth and power to bully a working class church."
That petition is still pending.
Come on Adidas. The name ADIZERO sounds stupid anyway, don't be dicks. Just come up with something else and move on.
