The Benefits Of Eating Like An 'Alarm Clock' While Training

A FitPerez reader has been inspired by Hugh Jackman's HAWT Wolverine bod in the X-Men films, but wants to know if his training methods will actually work for a non-celebrity. For answers, they wrote diet author and former Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester, asking:

Hi Ajay,

I heard Hugh Jackman say that when he was training for X-men and when he got that incredible body to die for that he became an “alarm clock” when it came to food, even waking up at 2 am to have egg white protein shakes. How can eating like this help people without Hollywood trainers?

According to Ajay:

Great question and best of all, eating like an alarm clock can often help you transform your body MORE than a Hollywood trainer could - both for losing weight and gaining muscle.

It’s this simple; when you don’t eat for long periods of time your body stores anything you consume as fat so it can “save it for later” because as soon as you starve it , it thinks (in caveman terms) that there is a famine and slows down your metabolism to “survive”. Feed your body regularly (every 3 hours) and your body KNOWS it is being fuelled and therefore burns as it goes, safe in the knowledge that there is more where that came from.

Add to that eating the right kinds of foods, such as proteins for muscle repair/building and low GI nutrient rich carbohydrates for energy and you too can be a muscle junkie ready for Venice Beach or a lean mean fat burning machine ready for the silver screen!
