A FitPerez reader loves hot chocolate, but not the calories and sugar that come with it. To solve her problem, she wrote Caitlin Cooks for a healthier recipe, asking:
I love hot chocolate, but not all of the calories. Do you have a healthier hot chocolate recipe for me?
According to Caitlin:
Fear not! You can still drink your hot chocolate and be healthy at the same time. Skip the heavy cream, whipped cream, artificial flavored syrups and opt for good quality dark chocolate cocoa powder. Try my recipe below:
4 1/2C skim milk
2T Dark Chocolate Cocoa Powder (or more, if you like it rich) – Hershey’s started selling it
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
1. Whisk the milk, sugar, cocoa and cinnamon in a bowl until smooth.
2. Heat the milk in a saucepan – careful not to burn!
3. Remove milk from heat. Whisk the cocoa mixture into the milk until smooth.
4. Pour into mugs and enjoy!
