This guy isn't even from America, but yet he's selflessly helping out our nation's hungry!
Swedish DJ Avicii (wearing the gray hat) and his manager stopped by the New York City Rescue Mission food kitchen on Monday afternoon to volunteer while on his $1 million House For Hunger January Tour.
The tour features 26 shows in 27 days and was designed to quickly raise a cool million dollars for Feeding America. Although he's European, the DJ explained he still felt compelled to help Americans in need, saying:
“One of the things that was most striking was the statistic that one in six in America are food insecure and this shocked me. We’ve been here in America so much, it’s like a second home and it just made total sense to help this critical organization that helps so many Americans in need.”
It's great to see an artist walking the walk after talking the talk. On top of his huge monetary donation, Avicii served hot meals and packed food boxes to be given to hungry families in the NYC area.
Thanks for helping out and congrats on your Grammy nomination!
