Adele's Someone Like You Is Scientifically Incredible!

Adele Science

Ever wonder why you love Adele's Someone Like You??

Turns out… it's science!

You see, there are these things called appoggiatura, and the song is riddled with them.

So what are they?

They're notes that clash with the melody just enough to create a dissonance… and when the notes return, it gives us ear pleasure!

"This generates tension in the listener. When the notes return to the anticipated melody, the tension resolves, and it feels good."

Wow!

That's when the chills descend on listeners. So when several occur next to each other it creates a cycle of tension and release, giving an even stronger reaction!

We're talkin' tears, bitches! Someone Like You has a lot of this… plus Adele also slightly modulates her pitch at the end of long notes just before the accompaniment goes to a new harmony, further "winding the spring."

We knew there was a reason… other than the fact that Adele has the voice of a buttery angel.

Keep it up, Adele! We don't care if you're doing it on purpose or not — we just want to listen!
