But get this — doing that might actually help you live longer, too!
It's based on The National Institutes for Aging's tests that gave animals the bare minimum of calories required to keep them alive and results showed they lived up to twice as long.
So naturally, they tried it on humans.
'Dietery energy restriction extends lifespan and protects the brain and cardiovascular system against age-related disease. We have found that dietary energy restriction, particularly when administered in intermittent bouts of major caloric restriction, such as alternative day fasting, activates cellular stress response pathways in neurons.'
They're actually comparing it to a form of hibernating!
Though, we wouldn't actually recommend doing it yet unless you know what you're doing, and how to specifically do it.
But just think if the crack it! The potential!
