This may get a little confusing but bear with us.
Michael Chow of Mr. Chow restaurants in Miami had brought a lawsuit against Philippe Chow and CEO Stratis Morfogen of Philippe Chow Restaurants.
Philippe Chow was sued for trademark infringement, false advertisements, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and misappropriation of trade secrets.
Philippe Chow even began to call himself "Mr. Chow."
This was obviously trying to trade off on the real Mr. Chow's name.
The real Chow said:
"Philippe has aggressively and shamelessly worked to confuse people into thinking our restaurants are connected, even to the point of referring to himself as ‘Mr. Chow.’"
And now, the fake Chow is claiming that they didn't lose the case that they just lost!
Even though they totally lost for having advertisements that show false locations of his New York restaurant and had his employees post positive restaurant reviews online without disclosing that they're employees.
That is dishonest, and just plain bad business.
He did get his comeuppance though when he had to pay $1 MILLION to Mr. Chow.
The real Chow's lawyer said:
"We view this judgment as a complete victory and are satisfied that the jury sent a clear message to Morfogen and Philippe Chow Restaurants about their false advertising and misconduct. This case was not about the money, and the jury understood that despite all that he has endured, Michael Chow has and will continue to be highly successful."
The good guy wins!
