Yeah yeah, vegetables are both delicious AND healthy!
But really, which are the best for you? Are you eating the right ones? How could you ever know??
Asking our FitPerez Contributor, Margaux Jean, is a good way!
Here's the question from our FitPerezcious Reader:
"Hi Margaux! I am such a huge fan of you and your website. I love all of your nutrition tips! One of my nutrition resolutions for 2012 was to eat more vegetables on a daily basis. In your opinion, what are some of the best ones that I should be including in my diet? Thank you!"
And here's Marg's response:
"Great question and I am happy to hear that you are eating more vegetables. There are so many delicious ones loaded with nutrients that it's hard to pick just a few! I really enjoy Swiss chard. It is one of the more popular vegetables in the Mediterranean region but it is slowly gaining popularity here in the United States. Swiss chard is also full of potassium and combined with the magnesium, this makes it a good food for the heart. I also love sweet potatoes because they are full of beta-carotene which has been shown to help prevent certain cancers and macular degeneration. They are also a great source of insoluble fiber when eat with the skin. Fiber is important for helping us maintain a healthy digestive system. In addition to sweet potatoes, I enjoy collard greens because they are a great sources of magnesium, phosphorous, vitamin A, vitamin K, and vitamin C. I am also a fan of Brussels sprouts because they contain small amounts of omega-3 fats, zinc, and selenium."
Uggggh! Why is it that whenever we post things from you, Marg, that we get SUPER hungry??
All of this is GREAT to know! Thanks!
